Hello to All,

My name is John, live in Australia and i am new on here....new 2 this in general.

Being bored i thought i would revisit my youth and restore a bike so i purchased the 1st relic i saw on ebay last week for $30. The unidentified Mixte.
It came complete with a silver hand brush paint job, thus leaving no indication of brand/decal etc making this a mystery for me.

Component features (original ?) include -
alloy cranks - sq taper bottom bracket (japan bearing cups)
alloy weimann brake ass.
alloy wheels - front = command hub , rear = sachs orbit 2 speed hub with 6 cog cassette
sachs stem mounted shifters

The main identifying points are -
*Serial number stamped onto nicely crafted rear brake bridge plate which also mounts rear basket
*Left rear stay has keyed spoke / wheel lock welded to frame
*Brazed frame lugs
I have included some pics of the bike before and after, although the restoration isnt finished any comments or advice would be much appreciated.

I would like to thank you all in advance for your time in reading my post or for any help/advice you may have.

I've seen more of the curved top tube mixtes coming from France. It's not much help, I know.

I saw mixte's like that in the Netherlands. The bent top tube and the chainguard look mighty familiar. It looks somewhat like a Gazelle or Bianchi, but the top tubes on those attach onto the seatstays rather than onto the dropout. The lugs are wrong for a Puegeot.

Can't say what it is, but beautiful restoration.

Hi to all and thanks again for your time and replies. Its make/brand certainly is a mystery but i must find out in order to finish the frame with correct type decals.

Sort of looks like this old Chiorda (http://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpeeds_1/Feature_Bicycles/Custom_Built_Bicycles/CHIORDA_EVIE/Chiorda_Evie_1_Start.htm) I built up for a lady a while ago...

Other than that about the only other curved down tube Mixte I have run across would have been an old French Monfor that I sent to a new home years ago...
