Classic & Vintage - Moto Grand Touring City Bike

Finally! It took pretty much the whole summer to get this bike on the road.

The Story: The big move took place this summer. My wife and two kids packed up the house that we had lived in for 20 years and moved to something more reasonable and easier on the pocketbook. Back in June I was painting and fixing up the new digs and the town was having its annual street sale. I took a walk down to the local sport/bike shop and out on the sidewalk was this little gem. How could I not purchase this classic beauty.

What I needed was a get around town, pick up the groceries, stop at the bakery type of bike. Purchased the Wald basket on ebay, and some upright bars and brake levers from the local bike shop. I had the Planet Bike fenders "in stock".

Old cracked and dried out Brooks soaked up the mink oil and is super comfortable.

Originally purchased at Turin. I'm about 3 miles from the store, so this bike hasnt traveled very far from its roots.

Nice score! I'm not sure about those grips, but if they're comfy it's all good.

I use one of those baskets, but ditched the supports in favor of mounting it to a rack. It's about 10x as rigid that way. Also, if you don't have one already, one of those stretchy nets is clutch for keeping the groceries stable for the ride home.

They are great bikes. Nothing too fancy.. or light, but they ride nice. I just sold the ladies version of your bike

Actually I was going to put rubber block pedals on it. Its strickly a utilitarian machine the way its set up now.

Yeah, the grips were in my stockpile of parts. Good enough for now.

Anybody know how to carry multiple cups of coffee in a basket? We have a Starbucks a few blocks away. It would be great if I could carry back coffee for the wife and me.

Try hanging some plastic clip on car cup holders from the rim of the basket (inside the basket) ?
