I know this isn't necessarily C&V, but this is where I hang out...

How much water do you drink daily?
How much do you drink on days when you ride?

Today is a slow drinking day at work and I've passed 64oz already.

I generally drink about a gallon give or take. Office time, I find myself drinking way more coffee (black, no sugar)than I should. Afternoons and evenings I guzzle water. Riding I usually take 2 big bottles and will fill up along the way. Living in the deep, humid south, I sweat like crazy.

Not enough during the day. Two large bottles or a Camelbak while riding.

4-5 liters per day of water, 2-3 cups of coffee too. But it's dry here: 10-20% humidity.
If I rode, probably double, but it's too hot to ride far presently.

one big bottle when i ride. and eight measured cups of coffee during the day. this should count for something.

Most minimume 2 liters - Almost daily 4 liters - When I ride winter 1 ltier every 18 miles (29 Km) - 100 degree + weather about 1 L per 10 miles - I also have one hell of time ballancing my electrolites but I am 57 and about 230# - Younger athletic guys do not need as much water as I do...

During the summer time here in Texas I have to change my bike routes to accommodate my water needs...

I have wished for a zipper on my spandex... Oh Well...

The most I've taken on a one day ride is 7.5 liters, which is just below 2 gallons. In the end I could have used another liter, but the cheap beer waiting at car more than made up for any deficiencies:

I drink enough water to satisfy my thirst.

On a ride, 1 bottle +/- per hour depending on the temperature.

I had some wisass thing about "drink till I pee, then repeat".
But honestly, some days I forget. Or just drink about four pots of tea.
When I don't forget, about four to five liters.
Riding, LOTS.

4-5 liters, except when I ride. Then, hardly any, except on a century, when I'll consume 3-4 liters.

It's back up to 101 this afternoon. I rode for an hour and emptied my Camelback and a bottle.

Most days, I go through seven or eight tall glasses of water - not sure how many ounces that is. Usually one tall bottle an hour on rides that aren't crazy hot.

BTW, one hint on water and electrolyte replacement. 90% of your electrolytes are sodium chloride (salt) and potassium. It turns out that low salt substitutes are about 50% salt and 50% potussium. Particularly during the summer heat, I put about a 1/4 teaspoon in each bottle and find that my post ride recovery is much quicker. If you want, add 1/2 can of Squirt for sugar and flavor.

I have a friend who is a very successful triathlon coach and strongly urges taking additional salt during summer training.

Okay, my aforementioned preference for beer as my beverage of choice aside, I normally ride with a 24 oz insulated bottle in the downtube cage and an un-insulated standard-size bottle in my handlebar cage mount (both actually filled with ice cubes/chilled water). My training partner and I are usually on the road around 7:30 a.m. to beat the south Louisiana summer heat. Usually I can go 40 miles on the two bottles. Last Sunday I went through just the HB bottle a 25 mile ride.

not enough. I have to force myself to drink water and I usually don't until I'm dehydrated and/or have a headache. It's stupid. I honestly probably drink more water when I'm NOT riding as I don't drink anything with calories except for the occational beer. Been doing that since 2007.

that is my favorite cheap beer. Love that stuff more than I should mention, though i havent had it in quite a while. My friend who was in the service brought home several large mugs from Oktoberfest and one of those mugs would fit 3 Busch pounders, as I fount out many times in my early 20s.

As much as I hate back sweat, one advantage to a Camelback is that the noozle is right there and accessible to take a few swallows whenever you think about it.

I have experienced dehydration at dry camps, and it was no fun. Now, I get ahead on water. However, Robbie, being a Marine, probably drinks his own urine.

Interesting topic. About thirteen years ago I learned I had an incurable blood disease, and one of the habits that help me is to stay hydrated. I keep a LARGE glass of ice water by me all day long, and drain and refill it constantly. It's now so much a part of my daily routine that I have no clue how much I drink, but I can say that few people I know drink half as much as me.

On rides, I drink as much as I can. That's why I like supported rides (bike rallies) - frequent stops with plentiful supplies.

At least a half gallon daily on top of like 32 ounces of powerade.

water is for the weak... and those who will ride another day.

You've heard the mantra -- hydrate or die.

4-5 liters daily (with regular 15 mile commute).

Long rides...1 bottle per hour, every 2 hours it is mixed with Heed, end of ride is mixed with Perpeteum (or have a shake made with it).

. . . but beer is real. (Notice how "beer is real" and "steel is real" compliment each other?)

1.5 mL a day at least. Add some coffee and some juice throughout the day, I still feel like I should be taking more fluids.

I try to drink a gallon at the very minimum. There are days when it is 5x my 750ml bottle at work + what ever little bit is over the line and then 64 oz of low cal Gatorade though out the day and then what ever water I drink at dinner and though the rest of the evening.

Its a ton and there are days I pee more often than my pregnant boss. I do feel pretty decent when the heat index is in the high 110s though
