New bikes for my wife and I.

Dealer one - one free tuneup - other tuneups $25, adjustments for life.
(road bike)

Dealer two - as many free tuneups as you want for a year.

And, have a ten mile further (20 Roundtrip) at dealer 2

So, I'm thinking take first one in at 200 Miles? Does that sound right?

And the wife's bike - who gets as many as she likes for a year - take it at the same time? She isn't as mechinaclly inclined.

So, when should I go for second tuneups?

It depends on where you ride, what conditions you ride in and how much you ride.

If you are a casual "weekend" rider who rides less that 20 miles a week at very short distances (me), then you probably can get away with not having a tune-up until next season though they recommend doing one after 30 days in case things start getting "loose". Because I ride so infrequently, I can wait. At the very least you should get one once a year.

I'm thinking more like around 400 miles. Give the cables a chance to stretch if they are going to, and allow any adjustments that are going to wander off a chance to do their thing. After that, I would mostly wait for problems to develope.

Its better to do ongoing adjustments then to wait till a certain mile to do it. Mostly its all little adjustments anyway, and nothing really big ever goes bad, its all the small little things

I took mine in at about 250 miles. I was having some specific shifting issues I wanted them to address.
