General Cycling Discussion - s-ram, shram, ssram- how to say it?

So the parts maker SRAM, how do you say it?
At the LBS the other day the guy was saying shram, but this was the guy that sold me the Comp 3.0 shifter when I needed 2:1 pull ratio and tried to give me the runaround when I brought it back (after googling a bit and Mondoman telling me what was up).

So how is it properly spoken?

I usually see it all caps- it is an acronym like the ALFA part of ALFA Romeo?

I always thought it was pronounced ssram, but my have heard my boss at the bike shop I work at pronounce it as shram... I don't know, there's no H in the name to make an shh sound so it seems weird to me. I guess its one of those names like Giro that everyone has there own interpretation of.

It's easier to pronounce the word with an "sh". I think that's why we hear it said as "shram" so often. Try saying "Shimano and sram" repeatedly. It's a lot easier, for me at least, to say "Shimano and shram".

Let this be a lesson. If you ever start your own business, pick a name that people can pronounce.

I read an interview with one of the company founders, and he said it's pronounced just like it's spelled - IOW, with no "H."
