Classic & Vintage - Looking for more info on my newly acquired Rossin..

There doesn't seem to be enough info on the interweb about Rossins. I checked Bulgier's catalogs and other forums, but I can't find a close enough answer, model and a ball park year, for my newly acquired Rossin.. What makes me a bit more curious is that mine doesn't have ANY of the engravings/pantographs that most other Rossins I've seen. Which might mean mine is a low-level frame. There's nothing that say Rossin in the frame other than the decals.

Although there are 2 things about this frame that I like:
1. the interal housing for the rear brake cable, and
2. top and bottom tubes - don't know how to explain, but see pics.:lol:

can anybody advice on what model this is, and a ball park year?

The fork has Columbus dropouts, rear dropouts have no mark.

Only says Speciale. Does this mean the frame is before Columbus classified their frames as SL, SLX, etc.?

Looks like a late '80s Rossin frame, possibly Basso-built (?). Columbus decal is SL. First generation C-Record/Cobalto with late Super Record seatpost.

That's a Columbus SL tubing decal. Lots of Italian brands were messing around with squashing Columbus tubing into various shapes in the mid-1980s. Mostly marketing. Your frame looks really nice in those pics. That frameset is probably worth something close to what you paid for the entire bike. :thumb:

The parts may have been moved to that bike from an earlier race bike that someone had. The frame looks way cleaner than the parts (which is a good thing, frame-wise).

Oh- the crimped tubes and internal cable routing were typical of the "Ghibli" model, but I don't recall if they were SL or SLX. - Your decal is SL, though. Here's an image from what may have been '87-'88 TSD catalog. They imported Rossin to the USA, and I believe were painting them in the States then.

Thanks! That's probably what happened here. One thing I forgot to mention, which I hate, is that the hubs are Suzue.

Here are a couple pics, nothing special there. My low-end Pinarello had "Pinarello" and Serial No on the BB shell, but nada on this Rossin.

These tubes are crimped, the Ghibli is is formed/contoured and has a cast BB shell with SLX cast into it.
