I'm considering to prepare my RIH-turned-FG in a more bad weather bike, so I need some fenders. For this 50's bike bluemels would look the part, but deteriorated celluloid plus insane prices sort of prohibit that. SKS makes fenders they call bluemels, but my local LBS's don't carry them and I can't find clear pics online, so I wonder if they look right... Anyone have them?

I have them on 2 of my bikes, they look fine. If you come to Gouda, you can see them.

The SKS Bluemels are not available in the US, as far as I can tell.

The only SKS Bluemels I've seen on the internet were "Bluemels Popular" model, which is a smooth round section with a bit of a lip at the edges. It's not a bad shape, but it's not the classic 50's shape, which was Bluemels Club Special, which has a ridge down the center.

When I was in Berlin a few years ago I did see some fenders that said "SKS Club Special" on the back, or something like that; I don't remember the details, but I did think they were pretty attractive.

I saw the SKS Bluemels at a shop in NL, I think Presto in Amsterdam, in case you are going there. I didn't really know the different Bluemels models at the time so can't say how close they are to the originals. For sure the SKS do not come in colors though.

I acted quickly the other day when I saw this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/280732246206?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

and probably overpaid, but NOS Bluemels in white are not something you see every day in the US. I'd prefer the Club Specials but am not complaining.

There's SKS Bluemels "SovereigN" mudguards on ebay now, in blue. Not a very attractive shape if you ask me, but then again, you didn't.

Al, you did not overpay. You could have spent that much just on the hardware.

thanks all. I found a better pic, and the hardware looks a bit too modern, but that's an easy fix.
