Classic & Vintage - HELP FIND-12 Speed Clamp on Down Tube Shifters for Vintage Road Bike???

hello,

so my problem is i am having a hard time finding the "clamp" on style down tube shifters for 12 speeds that originally did not have down tube shifters. My Fuji currently has bar end shifters.

if anyone can please show me a link of a down tube shifter that allows for 12 speed shifting to purchase i'd greatly appreciate it. i have searched but nothing but the common 5,6,9,10 etc. shifter comes up.

Any of those should work fine .

that was just a random pic i found. i see those all day on ebay but they never say specifically what speed that are for. does that mean they are for whatever speed you desire to put them on?? i just dont want to buy a shifter and it only have the range of 8 or 10 speeds, when i need 12.

Looks liek he's got the suntour barcons which are friction, so I'm assuming no. Unless he's changing to an indexed rear...

sorry, not all that familiar with the term "index", does non index function the same way as friction where you shift freely, and index means it clicks into place? i want non index if i understand the terms correctly.

What you need is a 6 speed shifter. 6 back x 2 front = 12 speed. The front is always friction. The rear shifter can either be indexed or friction. It is up to you both are available.
I think your problem is your are searching for 12 speed instead of 6.

thanks JReade, i infact want to keep the friction shifter function, and do not want index. so from what you guys are saying, these for example would supplement my needs?

You can use a friction shifter on any speed rear as long as the cable pull will suffice. I havent come across one that falls short yet.
