Ranger, nice one.
I commute, and have been very lucky so far with mild-ish, dry-ish, weather . . . no complaints so far.
Alas, we have had some snow, but it's still too warm for it to stick, They say 1-2 inches this weekend, that's paltry. I WANT A FRIGGIN' SNOW STORM!!!! This is Minnesota after all.
Please don't say that's Chicago. I've been out of town, and I'm due back to Chicago tomorrow. I just am not up for snow yet. I miss summer.
Koffee
Well, this isn't the first snow of the year, but Fort Collins and the Front Range is getting pretty hammered right now. I might have to buy some studded tires! :D

As recently as last year, I felt the same as you, but now I'm always thinking about what the sand, salt, wet, and grime are doing to my drivetrain. In January, I just won't be hosing the bike down, like I should.
Well, we got a little snow yesterday, wet 1 inch of white stuff, not enough.

Geesh, we are getting more snow than Minnesota this year. Another 3 inches so far today and still snowing. At noon, mail man brought me my Nashbar studded front tire and the Geax Blade for the rear. I had to run out to the garage and put them on immediately. I put on my bike clothes and headed out for 45 minutes in the snow/slush.
Had a lot of fun and the tires really hooked up. I don't have ice to test the studded tire yet, but should in the morning.

New to the forum.
Got in 4 days of snow riding last week, 3 of them night snow rides. we got about .5 inches overnight each night, riding was pretty good. Got 9 inches since last Friday, no chance to get out today. I will be back out tomorrow.
BTW, I am in Evergreen Colorado, above 8000 ft.
Baaa Humbug,
We had snow 2 weeks ago and I live 30 miles inland from Oceanside, CA!! And we're at 800ft, not 6,000 either, although that's just up the road a few miles.
This wasn't our first snow, but my first time out in it. The snow didn't really stick, so my slicks weren't a problem. Huzzah! I am now hardcore (or can pretend to be so).
Mueslix
No, really . . . you ARE hardcore.
Anyway . . . as I was saying . . . I had drizzle today at 06:15 hrs and that's very hardcore too.
:-)
They had the first snowfall of the year in Toronto yesterday. Two cm fell during rush hour (that's a little more than half an inch). It caused chaos on the roads. Drivers collectively lost their minds and commenced crashing. Over 300 collisions! We missed it here in Windsor as we're further south. The temp. stayed above freezing so we only had rain.

Thats a good point. Remember guys and gals the first few snow falls are when cagers just don't get it. Most are traveling at full summer speed. They are thinking they can stop on a dime in there SUV. They than realize they can't
I had my first real snow ride of the year today, What a blast!
Stay safe and warm,
John
