Bicycle Mechanics - Park TSRK kit... Worth it??

I just scored a used TS-2 on Ebay for about half what a new TS-2.2 would cost. It appears to be in pretty good condition, but i am considering getting the Park rebuild kit. Any opinions if it's worth the effort/money?

i was using one today in a shop and i can only dream. the shop model has all the knobs with chunks
broken off (mmm, some pretty rough customers), but still worked fine. it had a brake rotor thingy
on it too, for checking for warpage or something. ooooooo, sexy!

Yeah, wait to see if it actually needs a rebuild. If it's old enough not to have roller bearings between the stanchions and the collars, you do get that with the rebuild kit.

If it doesn't have the extended-reach feeler kit, that's good to have, easy to install and very inexpensive. BikeToolsEtc.com has them for $10, search for PA-238K.

Haven't received the truing stand yet, but the pictures show silver collars against the upright bases without any sort of bearing/washer between the collars and uprights. There is a spring between the inside surfaces of the collars. I'll be working on 700C wheels exclusively, so the extended calipers would be of little use to me. I'm an amateur machinist, so I've got mounts for 0.001" dial gauges that I can easily adapt to the TS-2.

I'll hold off on the TSRK 'til I've got the stand in hand. Thanks for the input!

TS2's are cheap 2nd hand now, as the TS2.2 does so much more, not an issue for a home mechanic, just using 100 front & 130/5 rear wheels, but for a shop, the TS2 would be very limiting now, with so may new wheel types becoming available.
