Foo - Fixie/SS and guitar?

So all you fixie guys who play the guitar do you go for the a slick and clean single p-90 like on a sg junior or the complex 3 pick up of a nice strat. I'm wondering if your taste in singularity extends outside the bike?

Hey hooded sweatshirt wearing fixers, do you like a classic cotton hoodie with front pocket, or do you like the complex stitching required in a zipped sweater with split pocket and lined hood, maybe even with some nylon mixed in?

i like the doublecutaway juniors more than the sg's. i'm not really down with the pointy bits...

I must say I rock a strat knock off (ed roman [not a pearlcaster]) with .018s.

I play fretless bass... (5-string electric). Kind of goes with the minimalist thing.

Also have a 4-string fretted, Fender Strat, Mitchell acoustic. The 6-strings don't see much action these days though.

My favorite guitar in the world is a Gibson ES-125 that my dad owns. He traded a hot pink Kramer for it from someone. They wanted a guitar their kid would play. It's a 19050 according to the serial number, one p-90 pickup and f-holes. Full hollowbody, but only a little over an inch thick. Whoever owned it before the guy my dad aquired it from had started sanding it down to refinish it, but hadn't bothered to take thinks like strings and hardware off of it before starting. They even sanded off the Gibson logo on the headstock. My dad finished the sanding properly, then went with clear shelac or varnish to seal the wood. You can't get a much simpler guitar. The single P-90 pickup catches sounds that I know no other pickup could come close to duplicating. It is the ultimate in simplicity.

Unfortunatly, the simplicity of fixed when applied to a guitar doesn't really matter once the thread is moved to foo. And I haven't played that guitar since I went fixed. Perhaps the guitar was my initiation into simplicity?

I play a gong made from a retired oxy cylinder (I am also selling off all of my, more than one gear, bikes)

I play a 70s Fender Thinline Tele with a 90s Warmoth Neck, a 2002 Les Paul Standard with Duncan P-90ish pickups, and a 1964 ES335.

Haha, how about the botched, slapped together look of an SG knockoff with Radio Shack knobs, a strat single coil in the bridge, and dings all over?

Or maybe a Danelectro that looks like a Strat crossed with a Mosrite, no pickguard, stripes painted on, a big crack in the body, a 9 volt battery blocking the tremolo, and P90 from a 70s Japanese LP Junior knockoff jammed into the bridge?

and no one mentioned a Tele?

Most singlecoils have always sounded too brittle for my ears, and most humbuckers are too muddy. A good P-90 has just the right balance of clarity, string separation, warmth, and drive.

For what it's worth, my brother's got a '65 SG Junior with a single P-90, 1 volume, 1 tone, a skinny little neck, and the thing simply smokes. We bought it for next to nothing from a pawn shop that obviously didn't know what they had.

I also play a Parker Fly Deluxe and an '81 Gibson ES-335S (and an old '36/7 Gibson L-50 acoustic), but none of them have that fun factor that the Junior does. It just feels good, you know?

I like emg's just perfect and I can't wait for my steinberger to get here!
