Just had LBS install rear rack and f/R fenders. Bike has 700x23 with Araya rims. I wanted bigger tires but LBS said they would hit fenders. Isn't there a way I can raise the fenders using an offset bolt or something?Fender comes in contact with bottom of brake housing where the stud runs through it.

I have the standard double. LBS said they can't go smaller in front chainring. What is the bolt circle diameter or pattern maybe I can contact Harris Cyclery and see if they have some answers. Bike looks weird with 23c's on it.

RD has been changed and so has the rear cassette/free wheel.

Any ideas on how to get at least 28's or maybe 32's on the bike would be helpful. Thanks Wardie

Fender mounts tend to be similar, but not identical - so it's not really possible to say what can be done offhand. But regardless, fenders mount to the brake bridge/fork crown. You need to look at the whole assembly to determine what can be done. If fender is tight against brake bridge/fork crown you're pretty much out of luck. You can go to race blade fenders, which don't extend past the brake bridge/fork crown. Less coverage, better clearance.

Fenders are almost always a "custom" installation. No two bikes are exactly the same. You need to look at the fenders and where they meet the frame to determine if you can get more room somewhere.

Since the early/mid 1980s road bikes have (somewhat unfortunately) become "race" bikes and have no room for wide tires and fenders to make them look racier. I can barely squeeze a 700x25 on the back of my '89 Trek, and that's without fenders. You have to go back further for tire/fender clearance or look to a touring bike.
