Am I got cheated on cycling clothes?
I have bought a cycling jacket from Oshman, It claims windproof, water-resistance and let out perspiration. I used it tonight, the temperature was 50F, my average speed was 15 mph and the duration was one hour. After I got home, I found out that there were a lot of water drops on the inside surface of the jacket. For the claiming of the letting out perspiration, there are no words on that, but a picture depict that the perspiration goes out from the jacket.
My question, was I a fool to believe that this cycling jacket can be good for the perspiration out? BTW, brand is CANARI, It was made in Taiwan, the name of fabric is Biovent, It is 100% Polyster.
Thanks.

Lei Lin, CANARI is a well known and thought of cycling clothing manufacturer. One thing to know about waterproof breathable clothing, it can be overwhelmed fairly easily. I would say that 50F is too warm for this jacket, most people would be comfortable with a long sleeve jersey at that temp. especially for an hours ride. In lower tempratures I think you will find that the jacket will perform well. I own various pieces of goretex and other "waterproof, breathable" equipment and attire, all of it will condensate on the inside if A:the outside temprature causes me to perspire faster than the membrane can pass the moisture, or B:If the outside atmosphere is wetter than the inside of the jacket it will not work well either. for example most goretex items to not expell condensation well in a rainstorm.
Key thing is to not overdress. Think of what it will be like after 10 mins on the bike. You'll be generating lots of heat and will probably be comfortable with less clothes on. Go out wearing a little less than you need and you will adjust to it quite well.
Here's generally the temps and clothing I wear when it's sunny (adjust by about 5-10 degrees when winter/dark):
50+: shorts and short sleeve shirt
40-50: full fingered biking gloves, long sleeve shirt, long windproof pants
below 40: windproof jacket with pit zips open, ski gloves sometimes, balaclava over ears and head.
Even below 20 degrees, I just add a wicking long sleeve shirt to the above. I've yet to be in any temps below 15, so I can't say.
You need to see what's comfortable for you. The above works for me.
Question again:
I wear a cotton T shirt inside and cycling jacket(CANARI) outside, is that a good combination? or I have to wear cycling jersey instead of cotton T shirt? I prefer T shirt because then I do not need to change after I get the destination, Your opinion
thanks

Cotton is not a good idea. I did a ride this morning, temp was about 55F. All I wore was bike shorts and a North Face athletic jersey.
It's not as heavy as a sweater, but more than a cycling jersey.
In the 40s I'll wear the North face with a light jacket over it.
You need to layer, so when you start to sweat, you can take something off. Nice thing about cool weather is you sweat so much less.
My Performance thinsulate cycling jacket does ok...But, boy , when I wear my Illuminite jacket from Performance..COuld use it as a 'sweat ' jacket to encourage perspiring...It is like it rains inside...
You do not have an illuminite jacket.
The cotton soaks up a lot of moisture, thus changing your perspiration from vapor to liquid. This could be part of your problem. Google Zyflex on the internet for polyester T-shirts. Keeps you dry & warm/cool in a wide range of conditions....

Cotton is OK for gentle leisure cycling but if you ride hard enough to sweat it becomes uncomfortable. In the heat this may be unpleasant but in the cold it can be dangerous.
You can get T shirts made from wicking materials. I wore one today for a 45min bike ride to a business meeting. The "bike" part of cycling jerseys is the rear pocket and zip, neither of which is useful under a jacket.
If the jacket is too warm, then use a long-sleeved jersey over your T shirt. It wont be windproof and will not trap heat. This is what I do for cool summer or warm spring rides.
Inside my thinsulate jacket, that feels ok..I only use wicking layers..WIth the right jacket, I feel ok.
sometimes fleece with a wicking layers is a nice alternative in the 40-50 degree range. I have a couple of all weather cycling jackets that just get to warm, like this morning.
