Hello All. I was hoping to get a general price range for a 1987 Schwinn Circuit. This is the black satin/chrome finish with the original Suntour 9000 groupo, Cinelli bars, etc. The wheels seem to be different, they have Shimano tri color 600 hubs but black anodize rims). 23" frame size. Better than average finish left (although the Schwinn logo on the fork has been completely polished away). It requires tires, consumables, and a full repack, refresh, recabling, etc. $?
If the hubs and BB were smooth and I wouldn't have to deal with the hassle of tracking down replacement parts, I'd probably go up to $200 for a keeper.
A little bit of elbow grease, it is at least a $300 bike in an active market.
Depends where you live. Project bikes sell cheap, real cheap. Post pictures and I will take a guess. Buyers want clean, ready to ride bikes. By leaving it in as is condition, you scare away 90% of the buyers. Many of the remaining buyers are looking for deals, bikes they can clean up and rehab, and make some $$ on. The choice is yours.
Of course, if you take it to a shop to have the rehab work done, you are better off selling it as is.
A pristine, ready to ride Circuit can bring a pretty good price. But even just flat tires can = $100 discount.
Although the wheels are not original, do both wheels and rims match? If they don't match, that's another discount. I thought that bike came with Suntour Sprint? Too bad about the wheels, as the bike came with Suntour Sprint hubs, which were pretty nice and somewhat hard to find.
I sold a 1987 60cm Circuit in pristine condition for $325 in March 2011 here in SoCal. It might have fetched more if a smaller frame as it was super clean.
Does it have the original Concor Profil saddle? Those fetch between $80- $100 on ebay in like new condition. I have bought a few bikes for cheap just to get that saddle.
+1 on what has been written. Mismatched wheels can bug people.

Thanks for the comments and knowledge coming my way. The drivechain has "suntour sprint 9000" printed on it. I 'm pretty sure, looking at other Circuit's on the web, that that's what was originally spec'd on it. The rims match, their an areo set of Mavic design (I'm not sure what the model name is). They are black anodized. It does have the original white Concor seat, but it's not in perfect shape (no holes but some noticable wear). This is going to be a rider for me, if I like it. I've purchased "ready to ride" described bikes and ended up having to take them apart and regrease everything anyways. Maybe I'm picky, but I consider ready to ride to mean everything was checked and lube in the last 10 years. I just wondered how much of a discount does a "barn fresh" bike warrant; maybe a $100? Does not stock rims warrant a discount on a bike of this pedigree?
Dunno, I think the tricolor hubs would be a bonus. Better chance of finding replacement cones if that comes up, and if it's a freehub less chance of bending the damn axle.
Catalog specs are Araya black anodized Aero rim which is what the Circuit had that I sold. Also has Suntour Sprint but no mention of 9000. Maybe they are the same thing, IDK. Do you have photos of the bike?

Barn fresh to me = rotted tires, dirty, really dirty, rust on fasteners, chain shot, lever hoods shot, bar tape shot. On such a bike, barn fresh = ~$200 discount, maybe $150 minimum. People buying barn fresh bikes are looking for a heftier discount than $100, at least in my experience.
