wondering what shoes Speedplay folks are using. Not sure if it makes a difference but thought I'd ask.

Lake makes them, but they are horrendously expensive. I like my Louis Garneau road shoes bought on sale. I never experienced any discomfort with them. When I bought my Specialized MTB shoes I had to break them in. I needed to go up a metric size with the LG.

I would have preferred black shoes, but the white ones were on sale. I have no regrets.

I use SIDI Genius shoes with SP X pedals, no problems at all.

I am using the Pearl iZUMi's. I'm happy with them,

since they come with 3 hole adapters, you can use any shoe. Bonktown has been blowing out the speedplay specific Lake shoes. I had heard they were no longer available. A Lake distributer went out of business lately.

I use an old pair of Specialized shoes for my weekend bike and a new pair of Specialized shoes for my week rides (live in Columbus, Ohio work in Houston, Texas). Any pair with the 3 hole adapters will work. I am very bow legged and have found Speedplays to be great, good float while very solid pedaling system. Have been using them for about 6 years now, only downside is the steel bands in the cleats break at around 5k miles of use, for me is usually the left cleat which is my longer leg and where there is more outward torque due to my leg structure.

For my short (2 month) demo of SP Zeros, I used them of S-Works road shoes. They were fine but as above, any 3 bolt cleat system is fine with Speedplays.

Dual sided Frogs, ? any SPD shoe with a bit of tread cut away..
around the cleat "knobs"..

or a roadie shoe, that you cannot walk in..

did you know? that with spare Cleats and a pair of Winwood Decksters ,
you could even turn your Speedplay Frogs into a pedal you can ride in normal shoes.
the cleat screws into an aluminum plate, and you fit it on one side of the pedal.
then you have that side for the regular shoes..
