MB Grand record, i think '75....owned since new (i'm old):D crank arms frozen post-rebuild...just worn out

original BB, TA crank 3 pin (replaced long ago). french or swiss fixed cup? i've overhauled it 10-15 times but its been 10 yrs + and I forget... (i'm old....:lol:)

trying to go sealed BB vs cup/cone.

take a few pics and post this in the C&V section too. some of those guys can tell by the color and components whether it will be Swiss or Frenchy

I've had several Motobecanes, all were Swiss. It will be marked. None of mine was as old as yours, so hopefully yours will have french thread.

The good news is that a swiss bb is no longer terrible news. IRD sells Swiss cups for its cartridge bb. The cups and bb will run you about $50. In the past, the only option was a Phil Wood model, for about $150.

IRD is a Brand name Owned by Merry Sales company, now.

Phil has the ability to supply the right length and taper of axle,
and the mounting rings are in al common thread types

French 2 RH thread, and swiss 1RH, 1LH thread.

TA requires a relative long axle as the arm is 90 degree from the axle.
