Hey Guys,

My name is John, I'm 25 and I live in Chicago. I recently started biking this May after not riding a bike in nearly 10 years. I purchased a 2010 GT Tachyon 3.0 which falls under the Hybrid bike category but is considered in the Road Bike category by GT's website. I test rode a few other bikes in the same price range and category such as a Specialized Sirrus, Giant hybrid (forgot model), Fuji, and a Trek - The GT felt the sturdiest and shifted the best vs the others which were all of equal price or even slightly higher.

I ride for recreation and stress relieve and not so much for commuting - I've ridden about 275 miles since June 24 (when I downloaded CardioTrainer for my phone) and have been trying to do at least 40 miles a week. I'm currently "training" to ride in a century in about 2 weeks.

After debating to join a forum, I finally gave in and googled for a biking forum and found this. Looking forward to learning some new things from repairs to riding more efficiently and possibly meeting new people to ride with.
