I'm in the middle of building a cyclocross bike, I've got one crossroad for right now. Do I use my current chain for my setup, or do I go out and buy a new one? The chain I currently have doesn't have much wear on it, but I've cleaned the rest of my drivetrain in a possible attempt of buying a new chain if I don't use the one here.

So if I were to buy a new chain, what would be the best cost-effective chain? I was thinking of getting a KMC X9 chain, which is about $25, or should I spring for the 9sp Campy chain?

U can use a 10 speed chain too if that helps you with the options, in a matter of fact will be more silent because is a tiny big thinner. Besides that u can even put those ones in 8 speed set up as well. as for the chain u have in there, is your call man.

KMC makes good chains.
