"Up and coming" is the operative term.
It doesn't go anywhere at the moment.

Thor, do you know what is going to happen to dahon.com? Currently it is held by the Tern faction.
This makes no sense at all. According to ICANN rules, this isn't a domain name ownership issue: it's a trademark issue. If David Hon owns the trademark "dahon", then he can perfectly legally rip "dahon.com" away from Tern. If Tern owns the trademark "dahon", then "dahonbikes" is too similar a trademark and David Hon can't use it. Either way, either David has the rights to *both* dahon.com and dahonbikes.com, or he has the rights to *neither* of them. It's can't be that Tern controls one and David controls the other.

The dahon community discussion boards are strange. The one on dahon.com has tons of posts, but they don't accept any new registrations. If you can't register, you can't post, and you also can't see any photos that are posted inline. The one on dahonbikes.com lets me register, but near as I can tell there are only 17 members and nobody posts anything.
I think all this hassling between dahon.com, dahonbikes.com and tern is doing a major disservice to the customers.

Documents submitted to the court suggest that in March 2009 the factions agreed to "... continue to appear to the public as member of the same 'Dahon Group' to max PR image ...". That's for example why David Dahon is mentioned in the Dahon Taiwan's site http://www.dahon.com/our-company . Hopefully the court will resolve it though the defense claims that it has no jurisdiction.
I would think that the confusion around the Dahon brand works for Tern's benefit.

Aren't trademarks a national level issue like patents? If so couldn't multiple companies around the world all be called Dahon and have a reasonable claim on Dahon.com?

Trademarks, like patents, are registered with the federal government in the US, as well as copyrights. May be different in other countries. You can also apply for international patents(and pray that they are honored), and apply for foreign patents as well. Not sure how this translates to trademarks.
As far as the 'controversy' this keeps generating..."There's no such thing as bad publicity" - Jane Mansfield.

Copyright may or may not be registered with USGOV. Even if official paperwork is not filed with USGOV, as soon as something is published, whether online or in print, it is legally copyright the creator or whoever they grant rights to.

Even in the same country, two companies can use the same trademark if it applies to different fields. See for example http://nissan.com , it is not what you would expect.
So presumably if your last name is Dahon you've got a reasonable claim to www.dahon.com?
Yes, Vik. In fact, you have a reasonable claim to dahon.com even if you don't have such a last name. For example, I can go out right now and buy the domain for dahonfoldingcycle.com. Doesn't really roll off the tongue that well, but I can do that without any legal issues from Dahon. Web address have very little to do with trademarks and copyrights.

I hope they upgrade the site soon, images take forever to load and the bike photos are not very professional, the bikes often at an angle (and with no side-on folded image).

I'm probably late to this but I just noticed that none of the Dahon bikes are equipped with Biologic accessories or Kinetix wheels. They do, however, appear on Tern bikes. So who is going to provide spare parts and customer support on those items for existing Dahon owners going forward—Dahon or Tern?

Well, that's simply not true. My Dahon D7HG came with Biologic grips, saddle and seatpost, probably some other stuff too. Kinetic Comp wheels and Kinetic Pro wheels are standard on some other models such as the Vecor X27h.

Biologic and Kinetic are brand names owned by Tern ..I assume ... thats why these names dont show up on new produced Dahons...
BIG deal ...
neither one of them are making these items anyhow... Kinetics rims are made by ??? company in Taiwan I assume ... Biologic grips are made by ?? ... same ompany who proibably makes grips for Specialized,Trek, Giant, or or or
What support or warranty you need for rims/grips/ other Biologic parts ????....
I am glad to help either way if it is on a Tern or on a Dahon .... makes absolutely no difference to me in any way.
Lets hear

Hmmm, within an hour of my post there appears to be a somewhat revamped dahonbikes.com site up.

A search for 'biologic' still shows few left overs. For example a biologic reference and even dahon.com (Dahon Taiwan) contact emails.

Looks like they are still cleaning it up.

except the pump and the wraplights everything else is in stock...
just sayin
dahonbikes.com - sad that the image of the fellow on the bike with the bullhorns (likely the vector x27), is not shown anywhere in the bikes section. still bit of disconnect, until all that silly legal stuff gets settled.

they obviously working on the website, which is a good thing indeed.
Keep in mind that this is the worldwide website showing models which are not available all over the place ( like in the US ) or are specked different ..... in doubt ask your seller !
Would be not so cool if you expect a Speed D8 with fenders and carrier and receiving one without. No big deal just ask if in doubt
thor
been waiting a long time for the vector x27...
