Hey everyone,

I have a box of mountain bike parts sitting here waiting to be hung on a frame for a decent hardtail xc/trail bike. I've been looking for a while for a used bike or frame in my size, and that will be able to fit these parts. The main requirement that has limited my frame choice is disc compatibility. My wheelset (Deore XT 6 bolt hubs) does not have V-Brake compatible rims, so I plan to run Avid BB7s. Problem is, I don't know what frames to look for. I probably wont be able to afford a frame that is already equipped with discs just to upgrade all the parts, so I will probably need to find a frame that's new enough to be disc compatible even if it doesn't come equipped with them. So, what should I look for? When might disc mounts have become 'standard'? What are some frames that are about Rockhopper level or better that I might be able to find on CL? I'd like something that could work as a good platform for my relatively high end parts until I can afford to upgrade, but I can't afford to be picky.

Thanks.

Homegrown.

Later ones though. Earlier aren't necessarily disc compatible.

Check out the Nashbar MTB frame. Loving mine, the price is unbeatable. Works perfectly for me.

Bikeisland.com has some decent quality but generic budget frames: http://www.bikeisland.com/cgi-bin/BKTK_STOR20.cgi?Action=List&SubCategory=Parts:%20Framesets-ATB
