I have been riding most of my life, 4 years ago a friend convinced me to join him on a ride after work, I fell in love with it. I still consider myself new at this since the first season when the weather changed we stopped riding regularly, so I would ride when ever I had a chance. Riding on the road alone intimidated me. This year has been a turning point for me I no longer mind riding alone, although it would be fun if I had a regular riding partner, my husband isn't as enthusiastic as I am. I ride an average of 90 miles a week.

I turned 50 this year, and did my first half Century at the HH100 in Wichita Falls Tx this past August. I loved it so much I have registered for the MS100 in Orange Beach in a couple of weeks.
I love cycling so much that I try to get everyone I know to ride. For me there is nothing like it.
I read the threads all the time and really enjoy learning tips from all the more experienced riders.

Good for you - the way I remember Birmingham - you have a few hills to climb.

Welcome ZonaM.
Stop by the 50+ forum (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php/220-Fifty-Plus-(50-)) and say hello to the old timers. I'm one of them. I'm 66.
And stop by the Southeast Regional subforum (http://www.bikeforums.net/forumdisplay.php/234-Southeast) and say hello to the locals. Lots of AL folks there.
