I recently bought a '96 Cannondale RT 2000 Tandem. The eccentric adjuster on the Captain crank seems to be frozen. I loosened the allen screw on the timing chain side and it still wont budge. Is there something else I should know? Is there a way to knock it apart to clean it? I presume it would mean taking the bearing out first, But I've never messed with a "bottom bracket" before so I'm not sure how to do it? Any help would really be appreciated!

take a big punch and hammer. knock it with a solid hit to free it up and adjust. i believe they use the wedge style like a quill stem

A kinder gentler way is this way, http://hobbes.ucsd.edu/tandem/Maintenance.faq

Thank you so very much, this is exactly what I was looking for. I now know HOW it binds to hold a setting, which makes it easier to understand how to adjust/trouble shoot it.

I was sitting here reading the directions again, when I noticed, there are no directions on how to remove the BB. Can you explain how that is done.

lock the ebb back in and remove the bb bits like you would a normal bike
