Hi I just got a HED H3 wheel, but its set up as track with the Surly fixer, how would I convert this back to Road with a Shimano Hub? Is it possible? Its a 2010 wheel and originally was a Road wheel but converted to track. I know it sound crazy, but I want to converted back to Road for use.

I'm looking at the parts it looks like there's a fixee hub that's attached to it. How do I remove it?
and then afterwards, can I just put on a shimano freehub? I don't really want to spend any more money. The person I bought it from said you can just take off the track and put on the shimano freehub. Is that right?

Thanks:o

If I understand what you are telling me and the information is correct, the person who sold the wheel to you is indeed correct. You will need to remove the axle from the hub, then using a 10mm hex key inserted on the drive side of the wheel, you will loosen the the Surly Fixxer and unscrew it from the wheel. Then you will need to install an appropriate freehub using the same 10mm hex key and then reinstall the axle. Good luck!
