Wondering if any of our central Texas BFers in Bastrop/Steiner Ranch have been affected by the wildfires?

Two days ago all of downtown Austin was even filled with haze from the fires. The images are frightening. Disasters like these are just 100x more real when you're close by. I never thought about the effects of wildfires whenever I hear about them in New Mexico or something. But seeing how fast the fires can spread and pictures of burned down homes is scary.

Hope BFers and their families in the affected areas are safe...along with their bikes!

We know one couple who lost their house in Spicewood and one that had to evacuate out Steiner but didn't lose their home.

I feel strangely isolated from it all, even though I smack dab in the middle of it here west of downtown. Nothing I did was impacted (I work from home) and I was able to run/ride this week without issues. I saw the pictures and know some of these places well (we just drove thorugh Bastrop two weeks ago) but again, since the fire wasn't knockin' on my door, it was just another day.

We were driving home from San Antonio on Monday and took the toll road east of Austin and got a good view of the worst of it as the wind howled. It looked bad, bad, bad.
