I'm going to document my "renovation" -- not exactly a restoration, but a thoughtful rebuild -- of this 1977 Bob Jackson frame, intended to serve as my primary road bike. I bought the frame a couple years ago from BF member Yogurt in Baltimore (whose participation seems to have dropped off since that time, I'm sad to see). I've finally had the frame repainted.

Besides a stop for shifter band on underside of top tube, and a shift housing stop on right chain stay, the frame had no other braze-ons. I added only a set of bottle braze-ons, because I hate the way those klutzy bands look, and when fixing the (crooked) rear brake bridge, the frame-maestro decided to replace it with a less minimal knuckled one and add lugs (without asking).
I'm planning, first, to outline the lug shorelines and the white stripes using a fine silver paint pen; striping not as wide as the original, since a fair amount of detail has been added already.

Build plan right now is quite conventional; I have almost everything required:
Headset that's on it is Tange-Seiki FL250C "Falcon", substituted after I found that the Campy SR unit I was going to swap from my Raleigh was brinnelled
Ambrosio bars (13 volte Campione del Mundo) with a very attractive slight outward sweep to the drops (just bought some Milremo dark blue plastic ends)
Cinelli 1A stem
SR or NR brake levers, with white Modolo hoods
Blue cotton bar tape
Silver brake housings; maybe the kind that are "braided"
SR brakes, nutted
Black B17 Special (new), or maybe a stiff old brownish-black small-rivet Brooks Pro saddle I have, if I can rejuvenate it acceptably
Campy SR seatpost
Campy Record crankarms 170 mm with a single 44 T NR chainwheel (no front der)
Wheels - Mavic silver MA2 rims, Record hubs, 28 mm tires like Riv Roly-Poly
Suntour Cyclone (1st gen) rear derailer
Suntour 6-speed freewheel
SRAM chain
NR pedals with black cages, though I have a pair of Suntour Superbe pedals too, with Cinelli alloy clips, Binda straps and leather pads
I'd use slightly wider tires, but the chain stays don't have any flattening or indentation, so I've only got 30-32 mm to work with on the rear. I may install narrow Berthoud stainless fenders, if I can figure out an elegant way to do it, lacking eyelets on the dropouts.
Don't even mention white saddle and bar tape; I'd rather spend time riding this bike than cleaning it.
When I have more to show, I'll post it here, above any discussion, and insert posts below to redirect to the top.
