Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Knog lights

I've got a Knog Frog single LED headlight just to make me visible to traffic. I see they also have a 5 LED Bullfrog and I'm considering getting one, but the reviews are very mixed. A few people love the Knog lights but I've seen several reviews complaining that they aren't very waterproof and have failed under wet conditions. Has anyone had any experience with the Knog Bullfrog or Gekko models under wet conditions?

Forget that overpriced (to me) stuff and get this generic light. Massive light output - be seen.

Both Knogs seem under powered (even for just "being seen"). If it is a dark area, you'll want more light to see the road, on streets and in traffic, you need to standout from the ambient light from street lights etc. Maybe the flash pattern is such that you do standout, but in general anything running on 2032's isnt putting out much light; AAAs will put out more, but the runtine and lumens to weight factor is low.

There is a wide selection of modes, features and lumens to choose from in the same price category as the knog.

Although I had read a lot of positive reviews of them at the time (about1.5years ago) I was disappointed. I ran the Gekko for a while, the one that I had was a total POS. I started having problems with the switch almost immediately with no moisture exposure. It proved to be true that it's not particularly water tight too boot. Didn't care for their computer either. :notamused:

I really wanted to like that light, just couldn't force myself to though.

However, that said -- I have it, and it's decent, especially for the price. I prefer more light, but that's still better than many people use, and better than most of the Knog lights I've seen out there.

The next step up at DX is a big one -- get one of the about 400 lumen 18650 lights for about $20, a pair of batteries for $8, a $1.80 mount and a $12 charger. MUCH more light, and still cheaper than a Planet Bike Blaze 2w that's not nearly as bright.
