Besides party hard, earn $$$ for parts, eat nachos and watch ride videos, I mean. :D

I do some free weight work (nothing major), some hiking, try to eat better, and I try to get in a good yoga session everyday. I've been practicing yoga for about three years; it really stretches my muscles out after a ride, helps me develop balance and strength, helps me develop mental focus and flow, and I know it's saved me a lot of times from being more injured than I would have during a crash.

What do you do to enhance your off-road riding?

A little weight lifting, I run for cardio(not too much now, makes my knees hurt) and I am eating better now that I'm more health conscious(sp).

Mountain boarding! Cant think of a better way to spend my time when im not riding, it really does improve your balance and muscles in every part of your body because no part of your body is ever still, its also a refreshing change because on a bike you take turns for granted, on a mountainboard every turn is an obstacle, therefore its and obstacle to get over....

I do abit of weightlifting aswell, not anything major, jsut enough to keep me busy when im bored....

Ive recently been gtting into kiteboarding aswell, i havent got any of the stuff but im using my mates at the moment, im really enjoying this :)

basketball, golf, martial arts and badminton
and the YMCA

hooray? Thinking about picking up those crazy spinning lessons at the Y instead of blowing money on a trainer seeing as how the lessons are free...

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that I swim too. No huge competitions, just enough so that I don't get out of shape.

 How can you hate the snow! Its like a white gift from heaven! i thought everyone who loves the great outdoors loves the snow! then again, your from Whistler arent you? If im not mistaken you have a pretty large amount of snow a year dont you so your used to it, we dont get much snow so when it comes the whole town goes insane lol

Nope..I don't like snow. Every sport I try I end up hating. I am not from whistler, I moved here. I am used to snow, I have lived in canada my whole life. I just hate doing stuff in the winter. Snow is wet, cold and annoying. I live in BC because of the lifestyle difference to onterrible, I live in whistler because I make good money and have the best mountain biking in the world outside my door. Winter is a time for me to work and get work done. Summer, 6 weeks off to play.

Like I said I will try skiing. I tried snowboarding and hated it.

Road biking is excellent training for mountain biking - lots of miles build up your legs, it's good cardio work and it's easier to practice your cadence (which can help your trail climbing). One thing it doesn't do much for is your upper body which definately seems take more punishment on a mtb.

Man, do people out west really call Ontario Onterrible? Not that it hurts my feelings or anything. We're all pretty much *******s. (I was originally kidding, but thinking about it left me with a pretty long list of mean people around here. Oops.)
Winter is really only good for two things around here. One is driving sideways. The other is indoor Ultimate. I don't really look forward to having to toss the disc indoors, but it sure beats frostbite.

Yeah people out here do call ontario onterrible. 60% of the people here have transplanted from ontario, because they didn't like ontario for various reasons (mine is the lifestyle, ontario is a work to work more attitude where here we do as much as we can to make sure we can play for example), 20% of the people here are from ontario, loved it but left because bc is still prettier and they are usually hippies, and the other 20% were born here (rare, trust me) I could get into politics too, but that would be pushing things.

I always wanted to leave, hated the education system, didn't like the attitude of the people in general, didn't like the attitude of the legal system. Only thing I liked was the club scene (when I was younger, there is no club scene here) and the endless supply of girls (living in Guelph ontario there was plenty ;)) But I no longer party and am not longer single, so the benefits to Ontario are even fewer. I will take my 20,000$ / year pay cut and increase in cost of living any day :D

Indoor ultimate, now thats a novel idea. I really need to come up with 10,000,000 and make an indoor play area. That would make me love winter :)

oh and I miss gyms. Real dirty, hardcore, weight lifting GYMS. I hate this side of canada for its fitness centres and crap music and worse weight selection. Man I really miss a good Golds Gym...

Swim, play soccer, roller blade, skateboard, run and walk. Push ups and yeah.

Swimming is probably my favourite.

I'm not in top shape anymore, but I used to lift weights, run and do calisthenics. I also ate no/low-fat foods, tofu, rice cakes, etc when I raced. Then I realized that I was ridin' so much I could eat whole pizzas and not worry about weight gain-so I went back to that;). Nowadays I ride tryin' to get back into shape and I find that pickin' up struts and truck axles at work pass for weight training.... Oh, and I walk a few miles every week or so if I'm not riding.

HAHHAHAHAH GUELPH?

Noone's denying that BC is prettier, but raining 50% of the time is slightly, how do you put it, crappy?

Not to mention the proximity to Quebec isn't stellar so basically all French-Canadian influence is completley lost once you pass Manitoba.
I've never heard anyone say anything like British Craplombia and obviously your percentage numbers of immigrants/migrants is completely off.

Also, what legal system troubles did you have?
And isn't the cost of living higher in Ontario?
And hated the education system as a kid or as an adult?

I've never heard anything like this ever before so I highly doubt this is what the general consensus of BC thinks of us. But lol if it is!

Work out pretty hardcore, run, and do spinning classes. Soon enough I'll start swimming because I want to attempt a mini-triathlon next year :) It'll be my first season of mountain bike racing next year :D

Yeah Guelph, when I was in high school with the university at the time it was 7 to 1 ratio girls to guys on campus and I was a tall kid. Amazing time in my life :)

Cool, you keep on believing it rains 50% of the time, you can stay there with blue mountain and your traisl and I will stay here with...well I can't possibly name all the mountains ;)...I do know this, vancouver it rains...a bit (not like ontario though, more like a heavy mist) Whistler...eh..similar seasons to ontario, but further west (okanogan and interior) freaking california my friend. In the summer its a freaking dessert with tumbleweeds and everything.

french/canadian influence...so...my person french canadian influence is nill to none, couldn't speak a word of it, damn ontario for forcing me to pass 1 french credit, German I could learn but anything like french or italian...:P. Except for the endless supply of snowboarders from quebec...although to be honest, since moving here I have met more people from quebec then I ever did living in ontario.

1 - no legal problems per se. I was training to be a cop and in general think canada blows legally, but provincial laws in ontario are gross. On the municple level it always disgusted me how little the cities took into account activity for kids.
2 - so so. Take away Toronto and the cost of living is more here. TO puts you guys over the top, but to me personally, that would never be an option. I was offered a job in TO that doubled my wage and outright refused.
3 - highschool actually.

The stats are made up/a joke/a bit of sarc with some reality thrown in, definately an ontario guy aren't ya ;). Jeez. It isn't that far off from the number of people I have met here (obviously not 80% of the population is imported from onterrible, we do have some from quebec, but no one further east, their cars can't make it over the mountain) If you go back one generation though I bet it isn't far off, BC is relatively new in the growth department :)

Chill out man, I am from ontario and love it in its own way, but I enjoy making fun of it. I suffered with Torontonians taking over my small town, Toronto growing to an obsene size and even worked in hamilton at the correctional center. Ontario has its people, lifestyle and working relationship. But none of the ways ontario lives appeals to me. Feel free to make fun of BC, I will just laugh when you spout the typical bc lingo like "too much rain" hahaha Things like that help keep BC people really bc.

Well I wouldn´t say I do too much to maintain my form as my form is always just fine (what do you expect from a 17 year old?) But I play plenty of soccer and do some pilates and have Alexander technique be able to release all my unnecessary tension.

What else do I do?....oh yea, I practice violin for 5 or 6 hours a day :p

I'm an ex-Ontarioan too, and I have to agree with you. Almost everyone in BC IS from Ontario!!! And most come for those reasons LOL. And having lots of rain is WAY worth having the mountains!!! :D Used to live in Kamloops and the novelty of tumbleweeds and desert wear of REAL quick, and DAMN is it hot!!!

Anyways, I also kayak, hike, do agility with my dog, snowshoe, lift some weights (just hand weights) and am starting to run again, gotta get in tip top shape to pass my Paramedic Fitness test!!! :D Hopefully gonna learn to snowboard and climb this year, oh and I belly dance too, and do yoga the odd day (LOL more like once a month or so hahaha!)

Nice. I am doing a road trip next year throughout the area. Trying to find the next spot to move so I can afford to live for a long time. Trying to find another resort to move to with a lift (my gf is severly addicted to dh after this last season)...

Welcome to the forums btw :)

I'm chill man...I'm chill...

But you were a cop here, what are you over there? I'm guessing being a cop somewhere and than being a regular joe somewhere else is real different...

I was training to be a cop. Worked in corrections and started to realize our legal system is beyond weak. I couldn't take the stress of jailing some one for multiple life sentences running concurrently. I also couldn't take seeing a 3 time sexual predator get out after 1.5 years. Our system truly believes in rehabilitation...and its wrong. Some people deserve to be castrated, buried and forgotten (can you tell I am bitter, my dream was to be a cop)

I am a senior administrator for a large hotel in whistler. My job is slowly changing towards development of intranets etc. PRetty cool job actually, just too bad I get paid in whistler funding. haha

Amen to that! Thanks for the welcome. Have you and your gf thought about Sunpeaks? A buddy of mine loved it there. I never made it when I lived in the Loops though. Bit greener there than Kamloops that's for sure! Sometimes I miss living in Whistler, but I don't miss working there!!! And I'm not that far now anyways.

YEah thats a spot we are travelling to for sure. Golden, Nelson and rossland (at this point if rossland could grow just a bit, it seems ideal overall) are our main stops with kelowna and kamloops :).. Squamish could be an option but my gf doesn't want to live there or that close to the city (although she does change her mind every 3 months)

I love whistler, and really wish I could stay here forever. I am past that 'locals' stage and now have a good core group of friends. But still we are all getting to the point where we need to move on (that 5 year mark haha) Its unfortunate.

Kelowna is getting pretty "city-ish" now. Rush hour there can be worse than Vancouver I think!!! Sounds like it'll be a good road trip. LOL Longest I ever lived anywhere was 2 yrs in Squish, but it had to be every part of town LOL. Good luck!

Hit the weights, used to play floor hockey(Was a defenseman, got banned from doing that because I laid a person out on a legal check.) I pretty much ride all year round.

I ride... winter time too. I run occasionally so I can be decent when I dismount during a cyclocross event, and I do very little weights but situps and pushups are really good for cycling.

road ride once or twice a week, and commute to work by bike
multi day backpacking (one or two trips a year-sometimes combined with #3 below)
the once in a while rock climbing day
snowshoe and backcountry ski in winter
once in a blue moon weight room time
some trail running (pavement is bad with my knees and back)

actually, i'm running tomorrow afternoon with my GF. trail, in the snow. fun!
