I am 58, and stepped back on a bike for the 1st time in 30 or so years about six weeks ago. I have been having more fun than I expected, and have been enjoying longer and longer rides.
Last week, I rode 20 miles on Tuesday, 30 on Friday, and 50 on Sunday.
The fact that 50 didn't kill me made me think about aiming for a century next spring. I don't care how fast I go - completing it will be fine. I also expect to do the 1st one at the beach - very flat.
Right now, I am riding a 1988 GT Tequesta - more or less of a mountain bike with slicker tires. I hop to be on a new bike by then, probably still more commuter/utility than pure road bike. I use my bike for lots of daily errands.
What are some reasonable weekly goals that would help ensure that I am in good enough shape to finish it?
Thanks,
Mike
