Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings. After 600 or so total miles of up and down (20 or so miles total) the Santa Ana River trail on my full-suspension mountain bike (tires fully pumped, averaging 16.9 mph) I finally decided to reduce the number of weird looks I was getting from non-MTB (i.e. normal) riders, and purchase a real road bike. So I got the 2011 Giant TCR Composite.

After a quick shakedown ride to understand the (very different) riding position, braking, shifting, etc., one word comes to mind: "Wow!" Okay, four more words: "This thing is fast!"

It's an all-carbon bike, full 105/5700s, and about 18 lbs without pedals (I bought the M540s so I could use my mountain bike SPDs). Did I say fast? 25mph seems pretty do-able on the flats...for at least a few minutes.

Does this mean I have to shave my legs now? ;)

Welcome to the forum! That's a pretty bike.

Stop by the Southern California regional forum and say hello. There are a lot of SART riders there.
