Cyclocross Racing - Cx saddle

I wanted to start a thread to see what people are using for a Cross Saddle.

I just replaced my Specialized Phenom with a Specialized Romin. Let me tell you, this is the most comfortable saddle I have ever ridden in 15 years. it's a road saddle, and is very stiff but has a shape to it with a wide channel that runs the full length of the saddle. it took a bit of adjusting, but once dialed in you don't even know it's there. I can't wait to try it in a race next week.

Pretty much my only criteria for a CX saddle is that it doesn't snag my shorts during remounts. Last year I used a Specialized Phenom with a piece of duct tape over the back to cover the split between sides of the saddle. I see the new Phenom has a solid rear surface. If I had nothing else to spend money on, I'd give that a try. Instead, this year I'm using a Selle Italia Flite that was on my bike when I bought it. I find this saddle fairly uncomfortable for road riding, but I like it for CX. I slide onto it nicely.

I use the Phenom on my cross, mtb and road bikes. I tried a Toupe on the cross bike, after breaking a Phenom, but the tags on the rear kept catching my shorts when mounting.

I dig Selle Italias (Selles Italia?). My CX race saddle right now is a "second" Q-Bik something or other that I got on eBay for $30. It's light enough, comfortable enough and it doesn't get in my way. Plus, it was $30, so if I wreck it I don't have to put aside a week's salary for the replacement.

Trust me, nobody wants to see that. My spandex is plenty tight already. I don't want to go all Polish National Cycling team.

I don't know that I'd seen that. It appears you're giving yourself more of a compliment than I originally interpreted :)
