General Cycling Discussion - Celeste h'bar tape...and other unusual colors. Post pix!

If you have celeste handlebar tape, let's see it! Post some pix. Also, any other unusual colors as in Nothing Boring. Orange, shades of red, blue or purple, pink or green, splash, two tone, even black, brown, white or grey if it looks nice, just whatever. Come on, show off a little if you like the looks of yr handlebars.

I'm trying to find some new colored tape to go with my black frame. Black on black is boring; white on black looked sweet for a week but now it looks like bandaging for casualties of war.

After a year, and a bunch of added accessories, I replaced the now grungy cloth bar-tap with a brighter red bar-tape. This was also my first time wrapping bars. Don't judge me! :)

As for red, I could only do a faded red. Bright crayon red is too much for me but the first picture looks nice on yours.

I see one splash, but it looks like you used three different tapes. A black, white, and splash. Is that right?

Origin8.. i actually got it at my LBS :D there's a lot of fixie riders in town so they carry lots of bright and crazy colors

It's Cinelli cork (non-gel), available at an LBS near you.

Yep. That's why I got it. I didn't like it at first, but my kids mentioned that they were always able to pick me out in races. So I kept it and will keep it again for next season.

that looks awesome. I'm just going to do it. I know there's some controversy over which brand has the most accurate celeste but that looks pretty good to me. It's going on a black Surly CC with a brown Brooks and a few gray accents, water bottles, backpack, panniers, and maybe a top tube sleeve. It might seem petty but it's my only bike, in fact, my only mode of transportation and I like to make it look nice. Thanks, dude.

btw, I'm really surprised at the lack of variety in handlebar tape colors. It's one of the few things on a bike that a person can afford to change often. It's so cheap, it wouldn't be unreasonable to change it every month! Why don't companies offer more colors than your basic black, brown, white or grey?! I know some do, just not as common to find really cool colors.

You're quite welcome. Naturally, it's going to be harder to keep clean than a dark color. I clean it with a soft brush, mild soap and a garden hose. Easy as pie.

Yes, three tapes. The black is the Motobecane tape that came with the bike, the white and splash are from Nashbar.

I was thinking of getting orange to go with my black and brown, for that same reason actually for Fall. btw, your orange looks red on my screen. I don't know why.
