Hello, I'm GVEE. I'm new here, and hope to be a "born again" cycler. I have a Vilano Drift. Yes, it was a pretty bad choice. I am 49 years old and out of shape, and want to use a bike as a training tool. I should have picked a better bike to start, but if I stick with it, I plan to build a better bike over the winter and give this to one of my kids in college. I will post my experiences with the Vilano so that others can make an informed decision.

Welcome to BF. The only "bad choice" for a bike is one that's never ridden.

Why don't you like the Drift? Looks like a decent enough bike. If you're thinking maybe you should have gotten gears, just ride what you got for a while; I think you'll find some single speed zen. We're about the same age and my single speed has become my tool of choice for most rides.

Oh, I like it! I like the single speed, and I feel I got my money's worth. I guess I would be lying if I said I didn't have higher hopes when I ordered it, but as a beginner bike it is fine. I'm having a great time with it.

Don't write it off as a cast off then. You may decide to keep it for yourself.
