Hybrid Bicycles - My New '12 FX 7.5

Picked up this morning. after some minor adjustments. took a short 4.5 mile "familarization" ride. "SWEEEET" light and smooth all around. love the color on the bike better than the photos. big step up from my old mtn bike...like the feel of the road wheel/tires and really like the gearing. just a great bike all around cant belive how light and fast it feels. wish i would have ordered sooner. thanks for all the replies to my previous "which bike to buy" threads. Here are a few pics.

i love the color too. everthing out there seems to be silver or blk...very nice riding machine.
took a little bit to get the seat and ergo grips where i wanted them but good to go now. make sure you check your tire pressure after you pick it up. i rode a couple of times at 85 psi---didnt feel right if you know what i mean. checked myself and found the tires are rated to 120. LBS mech. forgot to tell me. once i got them up to 120---wow big difference. Still getting used to the compact road crank...ive had to push a couple of hills that i didnt used to with mtb....all in all best thing ive bought since my Helios....and since i had to save a while for both that makes riding so much sweeter.

I recently purchased one of these as well. It should be ready for p/up some time next week. I went in looking to buy the 8.5DS only to find out my dealer wouldn't be able to get one until Dec. 5th. After a bit of discussion about my intended uses for the bicycle, my dealer suggested the 7.5FX with some Dual Sport tires. I think I will be completely satisfied with the combination. I can't wait to ride this thing!

Very nice! I do love my 2011 7.5 but *hate* the color. I would almost trade it in for a '12 just to upgrade the color! (silly, I know, and I'm not gonna do it, but still, the silver color is boring to me)

Beautiful looking bike, but I'm wondering why you have the computer's sensor and magnet at the back wheel and not at the front. The zip-ties kind of spoil the downtube.
Maybe you are aware, (but if not) most bikes have it on the front wheel. Then you can hide the cable down the inside of the fork, hidden by white PVC tape.

UH60-i was in the same "bird" that you were in. wanted the ds but after some test rides and looking at my riding pref. the Fx works better. the tires on it are 700 x 28 hardcase and are great on the road, and real good on back dirt roads and packed limestone etc.

Glowrocks-i almost upgraded to the 7.6 because i didnt want silver...then by chance i was looking over the dealers shoulder as he was on the dealer site and i seen the white/red..end of story. isnt it amazing how much looks play a part in choosing things...like my wife said "youre going to have this one for a while, you better like how it looks..." guess i wont be upgrading for some time...haha

giantcfr1-they told me that it had to be ran to the back due to the cadance sensor on the crank and such... i may get some clear strips/tape and try that...now that you mention it the black strips do take away from the look.

It's been a week, how many miles on it so far?

They have done the changes that I thought where needed when I got mine in '06. I'd swap the tires to 25's in the spring. The color of mine is a dull silver, the white/red is much nicer.

After picking up went for a 4 mile-ish ride that day and the next to work some things out. this last week took 3 nice 7-8 milers...had to push a few hills. which takes roughly 45min to an hour. today hauled it down to rails to trails and went over to next town and back for a total of 13 miles...faster when its flat no doubt. computer says 44 miles since sept 21

yes i think i will have 25's by spring...along with shoes and pedals...the straps i have now are a pain at best and at times feel unsafe

Picked mine up tonight and will be giving it an inaugural shakedown tomorrow!!!

I was in the LBS today and he had a couple of black or charcoal colored FX series bikes that just blew me away in their styling. My 2007 FX 2 is downright ugly compared to the new ones!

My sensor is on the back wheel also. There can be a couple of reasons for having it there. I have a wired computer with speed and cadence and it is all in one cable with the cadence sensor going by the crank and the speed sensor going back to the rear wheel, that's the only way you can install it. The other reason is if you want to have the computer work when you use the bike on a trainer. Instead of using cable ties I ran mine along side the brake cable and taped it using clear packing tape. That way you hardly see it.
