Mountain Biking - Mechanical disc brake-compatible levers for small hands

I'm looking for some recommendations. I just set up my Marin Mt. Vision with a 100mm fork and Avid mechanical disc brakes so I could have a longer travel, long wheelbase bike. I set up some Avid SD-7 levers for a short reach, but I just don't like the curve to the lever. I have small hands (at only 5'3") that really don't fit Avid levers. I really like the Kooka Racha's and Paul's I have on my other bikes, but don't know how well these would work with disc brakes. The Avid's have leverage adjustment that the Paul's don't.

How critical do you think the leverage adjustment is? They're pretty much just set at the factory default. Anyone using Paul's compact love levers with Avid mechanical discs?

Mech disc brakes use a standard engagement for the cable. Any other actuated brake should work fine.

Someone else on the forums reported that his Paul's levers worked wonderfully with the Avid BB-7's, so you may wish to try them. I think the Kooka Racha levers should work just fine as well, as he seemed to mention them as similar in some way to the Paul's. I currently have Avid FR-5's but they wouldn't be very good for someone with small hands. They sit a good way away from the bar and they don't have adjustable reach.

yeah i've got avid mechs and a set of shimano deore v brake levers.

the deore levers are pretty good for small hands, (i would know) also if you dont like the curve, the hayes mech. brake levers are pretty straight.

The FR-5's pull is pretty straight, but they're set out from the bar a good distance.. they're perfect for my HUGE hands (I'm 5'8 and have bigger hands than my 6'1 friends). They're far enough out that the levers rest under my top knuckles on my hands with my thumb hooked around the grip in a normal position.
