View Full Version : bike stand for low-entry frame?

I searched and didn't find anything overly useful.

My wife's hybrid is a Cannondale Adventure Feminine which has a low-entry frame-- the top tube nearly follows the lower tube. This is a problem for most stands because they usually rest under the top tube. Additionally, her frame is very compact and the effective top tube length is way shorter than a traditional frame.

I've got one of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UUEF7E

Her Cannondale won't go on it. The arms are fully adjustable, but you can't fit it in the narrow gaps between the top tube and lower tube. We don't have a garage so hanging it by the wheels is a no-go. We do have a shed, and if I don't find a solution for indoor storage the bike will be in the shed and then I'll be fetching it every time she rides and putting it up when she's done. Right now it's lurking in a spare room, but my husband-sense is tingling and I feel like the tolerance for it sitting on a kickstand indoors is wearing thin.

Any help is appreciated! Jokes too, I'm sure those are coming. :D

Colin, not sure if this is what you're after but I ordered one of these after trying it out in a bike shop. The bike shop uses these for display bikes. It fit my bike perfectly and held it firmly. One thing which you may not like is the fact the back wheel can't be spun, so doing deraileur adjustments would be impossible.

Heeeey.... that might just work!

Giantcfr- don't need a stand like that, more of a home storage thing like I linked. *However*, my father-in-law is looking for a good stand for his Felt 29er and I hadn't seen the one you linked.. might be quite good!

No worries, mine has arrived in the shop but I'm busy with work so can't get there until next week to pick it up. (although I may sneak there saturday)

those things let you shift the arms around for height.. top of rear triangle
and under the downtube by the lower headset, should hold it up.

I picked up this stand for my boys to park their bikes at night. Takes up much less room in the garage and I don't get jabbed from the handlebars anymore. A low-end bike might be too heavy to lift, though.
