Been cycling for approximately ever, but I'm pretty new to the forum game on the whole. BUT!

As per my profile, I'm a Pacific Northwest transplant to Chicago. A 365-day commuter, at least when my bikes aren't broken (and not counting the weekends, I guess, but I'm too lazy to compute how many days that means I don't commute). A mountain biker by blood, but as you fellow Midwest locals may have noticed there's not a great deal of that to be done here, especially for those of us living and loving the car-free life. So I've been riding cyclocross bikes for most of my time here, as I couldn't quite bring myself to go full-blown roadie after so many years in the mud. This year I've resolved to get back in the dirt on my new steed, so Chi Cross Cup it is for me.
Meanwhile, I'm an (extremely) amateur mechanic and a big fan of buying cheap and upgrading slowly. And thus: here come I to the forums, where I can hopefully bounce my gear inquiries off people with more sense. Enjoy! And I'll see (some of) you in the parks.
