Just an interesting note. I saw The SpongeBob Squarepants movie with the kids this weekend and Squidward rides a bent to work. It is an uss lwb.
btw the movie was not that good and I would have rather just watched a couple of episodes of SBSP
I read that there are subtle homosexual enuendos throughout the film. Is that true? If so, I think that's a bad thing for kids. Kind of like Shrek 2.

I didn't notice any, but I didn't have my gaydar on though. :)
I didn't see Shrek 2 yet but I hope that isn't the case. What would be the point? Any kind of sexual enuendo would be wrong in a cartoon kids movie.
Yeah, I saw Shrek 2. There is a scene when Shrek turns human and is tempted by 3 human females. There is a transexual as a bar tender, Ponocio wears girls underwear suggesting crossdressing, and the cat licks himself as if he is performing oral sex on himself.
I was shocked and very disappointed in Shrek 2.

Kids only know what you teach them.
Chip
The question is who is teaching?
All humans have an innate a sense "right and wrong." This is assuming you believe in moral absolutes.

Tempted to do what? Kissy, kissy!!

My kids have the video. I've watched it with them, but totally missed this.
Ponocio wears girls underwear suggesting crossdressing
My 5 son yo sometimes wears his 7 yo sister's ballet suit. Does this suggest crossdressing or just silly childishness?
and the cat licks himself as if he is performing oral sex on himself.
Kids will see this as "bathroom humor" not as a sexual enuendo. Nothing more nor less.
I was shocked and very disappointed in Shrek 2.
I rather enjoyed it and so did my kids.
When Ponocio was lowered and had to tell lies to make his nose grow to break Shrek out of jail? Trhough the lie it is revieled that he wass wearing womens under wear. Watch it it's the. If you missed that then it does not surpise me you think differedntly abnoutr the other "moments. Anyway happy that you enjoyed the movie. It was funny.

Opelika actually, but close to Auburn.
I think filmmakers these days will plant "inside jokes" in movies to entertain the adults. Yet these things go over the heads of young children. The things you mention sound like some of these things.
I'm not concerned with my kids seeing Shrek 2.
Thanks for the heads up. I was planning to see Spongebob with my nephews, but they insisted on seeing the Incredibles instead, so we saw the Incredibles, and I was wondering if it would still be worth it to drag them to Spongebob.
BTW, the Incredibles was a REALLY good movie- I went there with a CD player and a book to read thinking I wasn't going to get into it, but it was a really entertaining and funny movie. Big thumbs up.

My kid got a spongebob dvd as a birthday present. I love it. It is messed up.
Incredibles was awsome!!! It was like a combination of Fantastic Four, James Bond, and Mission Impossible.

Interesting, your issues with the presentation of varied gender identities suggests an unresolved personal gender identity issue. And gee, my dog and cat lick their balls a couple times a day. Are you jealous because you can't?
No, I'm not intersted in liking my balls. If you want to know. Gender identiy? I am male. Their are only 2 sexes male and female. Simple.

Oh good lord. Ever notice how it's always the silly adults who see all the real or imagined sexual innuendos everywhere? And how can we overlook those three lesbian fairy godmothers in Sleeping Beauty???? What about Dorothy, a prepubescent female traveling in the company of three species-confused grown men? Oh, and how can we possibly forget Bert and Ernie? Aren't they just a little bit nelly?
Give it a rest...kids know how to simply enjoy a funny situation, so why not just relax and see that life contains a great deal of variety and it ALL has the potential for being funny, absurd, or ridiculous. And by the way...homosexuality is NOT contagious. You can't "catch" it simply by knowing it exists. Sheesh!

Awe 'cmon your among friends you can admit it. In an unscientific study, I've found that if they could, a vast majority of men would self felate. Most would never leave the house and some woulde even swallow. I've asked this question to men from all walks of life and this is an honest cross section of replies.
Only two sexes eh? Tell these (http://www.itpeople.org/home.php) people that. :)

Well personally I think you guys are reading WAAAAAY too much into Shrek 2 especially the oral sex part. To kids wearing women's underwear is funny a woman that has a beard and talks like a man is funny, they are innocent. And heck if our children grow up to be tolerant of homosexuality, transgendered individuals, and transvestites, I think we're better off. Just because they see it doesn't mean thats what they're going to be.

Both Spongebob and Shrek 2 are rated PG. If the kids don't understand something, the parents are supposed to guide them, same as in everything in life. Kids learn what they're taught. Personally I think the Cinderellas and Sleeping Beauties of the world are bad for girls (since I have two of them) as they teach them they're helpless or worthless unless they marry a prince.

Or you could turn off the TV and send them outside. Buy them a bicycle? If they sit in front of the tube too much, and most kids in America do, they run the risk of getting FAT.

Funbun-"No, I'm not intersted in liking my balls."
Dude..., what is up? I totally like my balls. They are, like.., my buds.

Well then you're going to have to get rid of The New Testament, too, for it's homosexual innuendos.

They are "The Good Fellas"
P.S. based on FunBuns response I think I know the real reason he did not like the SpongeBob movie. The sense of humor removal was a complete success.
