my 11-12 year old daughter is hoping to race mountain bikes next spring. the only problem is finding proper cycling clothing for her and my wife is insisting that they are girl colors :) .

There's lots of women's specific clothing around now, will she fit into small women's clothes? I don't know anything about racing clothes, but REI would probably have stuff, as well as MEC, both have websites you can look online. My LBS actually has a lot of women's stuff, as do the small shops in the city. You might have to look really hard to find clothes that fit her properly, but then mom and daughter will both be happy, and so will you! :D After all, who wouldn't be thrilled when their child aspired to something they love! :D Good luck to her!!!

Very cool, you will spend some great time together on bikes. My son 11 has been riding with me for almost 4 yrs now.My youngest girl 13 just got bit by the bug, picked her up a nice little Fisher. It's used but in very good condition and I got it dirt cheap. It's great you are supporting her racing, the time you spend with her is priceless.

What bike is she riding?

C'est le awesome.

Guys, question: When hopping things, are you supposed to clear the back wheel too or just take your weight off and put it in the front. Because I cant bunny hop so when I go up curbs and logs my backwheel hits. Wrong?

Not wrong...both work. Bunny hopping just takes the slamming of the back wheel out of the equation.

About racing clothes, you can probably get some young girls fox jerseys and pants, maybe thor or something like that.

I think Target and Walmart have some cheaper wicking T's and jerseys that come in XS women's sizes. They may fit her good enough... I wouldn't put a lot into real cycling kit until she is older and isn't going to be hitting any growth spurts for awhile.
