Books, Movies, Music & Entertainment - Halo

Ok, so I finally played Halo and I must say I was horribly disappointed. For all the hype around it, the game really was a load of crap. It was basically just another first person shooter but with more repetition. I don't know how many times I passed through similar-looking halls and rooms on a number of different levels. Plus, although the story-line has a decent premise, it was executed pretty poorly.

Basically, I'm wondering what makes people think that Halo is so great. Is there something I'm missing?

play metal gear solid 3. It makes halo 2 look like a kids game, and the story is 150% better.

I know of plenty of games that makes Halo look like crap. That's my entire point. Halo was supposed to be this revolutionary new FPS and I just don't see how it is. That's why I asked if I was missing something. When I think revolutionary, I think Wolfenstein, Doom, and Halflife. Those each had something that made them exceptional games. I'm sure MGS3 is great, too, I just haven't played it yet.

This game sold the xbox. Coop on the same machine carried it. The PC version sucks for this very reason, they did not include coop multiplayer.

Yeah, doing coop was kinda cool, it was nifty being able to use actual tactics rather than just running in, guns blazing, but it still wasn't enough for me to think highly of the game. It wasn't the worst FPS I've played, but nowhere near the best, either. It was just meh.

i suspect that's why MS kept it pretty much an Xbox exclusive - basically b/c they couldnt release it in time to make any significant impact on the pc, but for xbox players it's revolutionary. wish they'd have a xbox/pc interface so i can clean my butt with a console player vs mouse and keyboard. did you try halo 1 or 2?

Well actualy this is the Books, Movies, Music & Entertainment section of bikefourms so halo is a very apropriate topic.

As for halo 2, you guys need to stop comparing it to other great games and see halo for what it is. the story line wasnt much but playing halo 2 system link with more then 8 people is just as entertaining as any other game iv played.

BUT STILL GTA IS BETTER you ahve to face it sooner or later.
