Earlier today the LBS called. My new (to me) Tarmac was ready to pick up! I ran over at lunch at swung it by the house before returning to work.

Well my wife calls and I tell her I will probably take it for a quick 5-10 miles tonight just to get a feel for it. She uses her "wife tone" to remind me it hasnt been two weeks since the dislocated shoulder and I'm not supposed to be riding yet. I again say that it will be a quick 5-10 mile just for fun ride. She replies "uh-huh".

She then makes me to promise that I wont leave the MUP, because that will force me to keep the speeds down. Dang! There is a downside to marrying a woman who is smarter than you.--

Only did about 6 miles. The shoulders still a little sore. I need to raise the seat maybe 2 cm. And I was feeling a lot of pressure on my hands. Not sure now to tweak that. Flip the stem back up maybe?

And here it is. '06 Tarmac with a take off 105 gruppo from an 08 Roubaix.

Dude, you bought a tarmac! The bars are supposed to be about 2 feet below the seat. You're gonna have weight on your hands.

Congrats on the fine bike - have fun.

LOL! Tru dat.

But I think its a matter of how much weight. My Allez was set up exactly like this, and there was pressure on my hands... just not this much. I think the difference is that this Tarmacs steerer tube is 3 cm shorter. So I thought that flipping the stem back up might alleviate a bit of discomfort.

Of course, I guess with any new bike set up there's an adjustment period where ya gotta tweak this and that. At least I've reached a point in my cycling development where I can actually realize that and test ride the bike with the thought "what do I need to adjust?" - and come up with some ideas! I'll call that progress :)
