Hello everyone.
I was thinking of chopping a frame to make a travel bike and thought this would be a really cool candidate so I dug it out of where it's been hiding for 10 yrs or so to get a good look at it.
I did a bit of research and I think it's from the early 70's. It has a couple of mounting points on the down tube for a pump that I seem to remember it having. The wheels are off and I didn't take pictures of them, but I think they're original. There is also a generator on the seat stay and wires to lights in front and back. The wires are pinched onto the frame with tabs that are part of the frame. So I think that is stock as well.
So is this a found treasure that's worth something or can I chop it without remorse?
Thanks

I guess I don't understand what you mean by "chop the frame", Personally I'd restore it and ride it or sell it or else sell it as is to a person that will appreciate it for what it is.

I would just pick up a folding bike instead. Its going to take quite a bit of money to complete that bike and modify it into a folder. If you just want something to play around with, I would pick up a department store bike at a thrift store and cut away.

Although that is an entry level Peugeot, it does have some value, fenders and light are nice, paint and chrome look pretty good.

I think with minimal money and effort, cleaning, new chain etc, that could be a really nice bike. Don't cut up an od steel frame. They may be a dime a dozen now but so were 60's mustangs. Once they're gone, they're gone.

Not sure why the angst posted above. It's a nice older bike, but even cleaned up you'd never win anything @ Cirque with it, nor fund a semester's college book requirement. Chop 'n fold away.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I've got lots of time before my next vacation, so I'll weigh what you've all said and decide later.
Thanks again.
