Hello!!
I just finished my time trial yesterday and saw a 2 minute reduction in my time vs. the same course in April. Briefly, I finished my race in 26:16:50 for a 9.5 mile TT. My average speed came out to 21.77mph. Not too bad and a nice improvement from April.
I could not help but notice the finishing times of my competitors. 20 minutes, 23 minutes, etc and was wondering, how realistic am I to be considered a "threat" next spring when we do the same course again? Is another 2 minute reduction in my time possible if I train properly for the next 6 months?
Briefly, I trained so hard from April until September. 2X a day. Before work and after. I lost 7lbs in one month. Lost a girlfriend and gave up so much other stuff along the way.
My goal for 2012 would be to finish the 9.5 mile race in under 26 minutes. But since I am only 17 seconds short of that goal...it might be too easy to attain. Could I set a goal of finishing in 24 minutes?
Is this realistic?? When does the body physically stop improving?
After yesterdays TT, I am chosing to stop for 2 weeks and stay away completely from the bike. But come mid October, it's time to start training again.
Is my goal realistic.
