If the same price and new(ish), which bike do you think would be better for NYC commuting - I'm totally new to bikes, thanks!

I am not familiar with the Origin 8, but I have a Trek 7100 and it's a great bike. It's the same as the 7200, except the 7200 has upgraded components. For reference, I trained all summer on it and rode a century on it in early September. It is fairly light for a hybrid and handles exceptionally well.

Thanks - actually made a last minute decision and picked up a 2 month old Biari - much better deal and choice of colors and accessories with a full tune up. Score.
