Cyclocross - Mavic A319 rims for cheap 'cross wheels?

Looking into going CX on the super cheap. Is this a usable rim? I'm 6'4" 185 lbs.

Velomine has a few sets of these for $130, which sounds like a bargain.

Any other suggestions?

Nothing wrong with that combination. I have Mavic A319 w/ Shimano Deore hubs on my utility bike. They have been great performers. Strong, trouble free, smooth... I'm 210 lbs on a 32 spoke wheel.

I would expect to re-tension the wheel during the first 500 miles. Only the best handmade wheels are well tensioned from the first day. $130 does not buy that kind of quality.

The design of the track hub exposes the sealed bearings. I have similar ones (from nashabar), and one bearing cartridge died in a few months (~200miles). You can replace them easily and cheaply, and it seems how long they last depend on the (obviously) the quality of the bearings/sealing, but if you are using it for cx, that I would concern. They probably don't survive the post-race power wash.

I use nervation wheels for my cx. They are cheap, very light, and strong.

Hmm... I have Neuvation on my road race bike. I'd feel weird putting wheels as "nice" as my road bike's wheels onto something I'm dragging through the mud!

I'd rather have a wheel I can just pull apart and re-grease several times a season than have to buy replacement sealed bearings.
