Just wondering what everybody's impressions are for the sub-$500 range of trianthlon frames is. I just broke my front derailluer mount (already had it fixed once...only lasted a month) so I'm going to be needing a new frame for next season.

I will most likely be putting drops and brifters on the bike with aero bar extensions but I also have bullhorns and brake levers so I can build a true tri bike if I wanted.

I'm thinking about getting a neuvation or planet x frame but still scouring ebay for a good deal on a lightly used tri/TT-specific frame.

Any recommendations?

**Edit**
I currently ride a size 58cm road bike and a tri-bike with a 56cm top tube if that matters to anybody.

Yes. My recommendation would be to get a Profile Design Fast Forward seatpost or similar, a set of Profile Design T1 or T2 clip-on bars, flip your stem (or swap it out for a shorter one) and try and find a comfy and fast position.

If you are desperate for a tri-specific frame, and are on a limited budget, try the 720 TT from Leader. It's about the cheapest way to get a tri-specific geometry frame. It doesn't have the fancy rear wheel cutout that the higher end frames do but who cares. Mine is an extremely fast machine:

The Planet X carbon frames have an excellent reputation.

I've got a 55cm Litespeed Tachyon frameset w/wheel set and other extras I'm thinking about selling (http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=1999&Brand=Litespeed&Model=Tachyon+%2801%29&Type=bike). As long as you're not looking for a complete bike and would be willing to build it up, it seems like a good candidate to me. Top Tube is 55.75. Let me know if you're interested!

Agreed. Good enough to be rebadged and ridden by Cadel Evans in the TDF a few years ago...

There is a motobecane at bike island for under three hundred with a carbon fork and seat post delivered.
