I just bought a new KMC-X-10SL chain, and I have a few questions about installation.

Do I have to use a tool to connect the "Missing Link"? is the missing link re-usable?

Is there anything else that I need to know?

having fitted an X-10L gold today, no tool needed to fit, make sure you measure correctly before shortening to your desired length.

For removal, havn't tried it, but KMC's guide show's it as being re-usable http://www.kmcchain.us/ChainGuidePDFs/ChainGuide_ConnectingLinkInstructions.pdf

Do I have to use a tool to connect the "Missing Link"? <--- NO, hands is all u need. If you know how to handle lego blocks u can do this.

is the missing link re-usable? <-- if you want yes, that's a personal call.

Is there anything else that I need to know? <-- NO

You do have to size the chain to fit your particular drive train and frame. Sheldon Brown has a good description of what I consider the best way to do this here:

Scroll down to "Chain Length"

I usually can connect the KMC Missing Link to chain by hand, However, it is occasionally tough to remove by hand. Thus, I sometimes use the Park Tool MLP-1 Missing Link pliers.

I just put on a KMC X10SL and love it. Prior, I used SRAM PC1090 chains for about 10,000 miles, and never liked taht the PowerLock masterlink is not (supposed to be) reuseable. So far, I have ~900 miles on th KMC. And no issues with the Shimano Ultegra chain rings, or the SRAM PG1070 cassette. My buddy just put on the same KMC and he feels it is quieter and shifts better - me thinks it is just new chain syndome. Regardless, I think it's a great product.
