This was a really cool place to bicycle. It looks like the State of Florida isn't going to spend any money on this bridge, so I wanted to get here before they probably close it down in the near future. Word is it's sagging in places. Only people and bicycles are allowed on it. This is a 2.04 mile ride one way. See more of my photos at: http://www.trailviewmount.com

That is a LOT of parking stop things (whatever they are called LOL)........ Maybe thats why its sagging ... lol But really are they all the way across the bridge, the whole 2 miles? Doesn't look really smooth good thing you have a mountain bike :D Still cool looking ride though.

Cool, I recently read a book called "the last train to paradise" about the construction project on the original railroad line that included that bridge, it's fascinating, definitely something the OP might enjoy. I take the drive down to key west from Miami a fair amount and as I pass the old bridge on the current seven mile span I've wondered what the condition is like for pedestrians. The portion you were on from the north end to that island is one thing, the southern 5 miles are totally decrepit now. Hard to imagine they had two way auto traffic on something so narrow until the new span was built.

It is a hair bumpy Otherland. Not totally smooth. Didn't bother me at all. This is a billion dollar view here. And worth being on a 100 year old historic bridge.

Yes Dan the southern part is bad. I took photos from a fishing bridge right next to it. What a view. My ex told me driving on the old Seven Mile Bridge in the 60's and 70's was scary. See more photos from here at http://www.trailviewmount.com (http://www.trailviewmount.com/) Thanks for seeing.
