Cyclocross - Michelin Mud 2 riders: how accurate is the label size?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Considering a set of Mud 2's for the rainy season. But since the bike in question is a converted road bike, clearance is tight. A true 30mm will fit fine, so the question is: when it says 30mm is it actually 30mm?

Hmm... not talking from experience, but I would think it would be close to accurate. A good mud tire is rather narrow, so I don't see any reason why it _should_ be wider than that.
I just measured mine (30-622) at 32.3mm, one on an Open Pro rim and one on a (narrower) Alex AT-450 rim. The knobs don't protrude to the side.
Great, Andy. Thanks. That's exactly what I need.

What! a good mud tire should be narrow? Everyone would be running 34's if the UCI allowed it. The michelins run about 32, the label is a bit off!
