I have an opportunity to buy a great looking Bianchi Axis for $500. However, I don't know the year. I will post a picture so maybe ya'll can help with that. Also, looking at the picture, is 500 a fair price?
Thanks a lot for your help!

Looks like a 2002: http://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/BikeSpecs.aspx?Year=2002&Brand=Bianchi&Model=Axis&Type=bike
Note that the components listed on that link refer to older generation components. The 105 shifters would be 5500-series (5700 is current). The XT rear derailleur is M750 (770 is current). That's not terrible, but you should set your valuation accordingly.
Those wheels would worry me unless you weigh 150 pounds or less, in which case they might be great.
The frame looks like it's in good shape. There's something on the fork. If it's mud then no worries, but if the finish is scraped off then the fork should probably be replaced. It's probably a reasonably light bike and could be made even lighter down the road with new components.
I'd say $500 isn't a terrible price, but I'd definitely offer less.
also has a triple crank. Its really setup as a road bike and not CX specific. I would want a more sturdy wheel for CX races
