I picked up a rusty old road bike from my neighbor's shed a few weeks ago. I need a commuter so I thought I should fix it up. I just wanted it in working condition so I sent it to the LBS as I have no bike know how. I spent ~$130 on cables, tires/liners, and tune up.

The bike has Shimano Tourney brakes, Shimano Positron shifters/deraillures, and a "Road Champion" handlebars. I can't ID the frame and have no camera to upload pics.

From some research, these seem to be department tier parts. Did I spend more money on repairs than the entire bike is worth?

Edit: It also needs a front bike rim/rebuild. How much will that cost?

You did, but if you like the bike, hey, who cares? Now you have a bike you like that only cost $130, which isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.
